Charanga flutists and fans will be thrilled to know that there is a new, pure charanga album in the “charanga-sphere.”  La Típica Antillana: Los Angeles’ Cuban Charanga Legacy, produced by Los Angeles-based flutist Danilo Lozano, has been a long time coming, and it comes fully-loaded with plenty of charanga cred.

The immediate response to Jessica‘s review has also stimulated an ongoing interest in her review of  Sue Miller‘s book on Cuban Flute Style.


This indicates, once again, that the music of Cuba is emerging as a major influence on flutists in many parts of the world, whether they work in pure charanga, jazz or World Music.
