Tom Ridout

Tom Ridout is a young Jazz Saxophonist, recorder player and composer based in London. A recent graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, he is a recent member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and a finalist of the BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year for 2018. Tom runs his own Jazz Quintet, which plays his own originals and arrangements of other music.

Ridout has also formed The Handel On Jazz Trio, a recorder-led chamber jazz ensemble, for the 2018 Lancaster Jazz Festival Youth Commission, which Tom won with his plan to rework the Handel Recorder Sonata in F Major for improvising jazz musicians.

As well as playing reworked Handel, the trio offers a unique intimate look at some of Tom’s own compositions, as well as jazz standards and other well known music, with a focus on group interplay and improvisation.

The trio comprises Tom Ridout on Recorder, Billy Marrows on Acoustic Guitar and Flo Moore on Double Bass.
